Carson High sophomore Kevin Mariscal earned an honorable mention for the 2025 Nevada Reading Week Art Contest.
Addison Littlefield, a fourth-grade student at Brown Elementary School in the Washoe County School District, was the grand prize winner. It was the first year an elementary school student has taken top honors.
The winning artwork from the statewide contest will be used across Nevada for apparel and social media. Nevada Reading Week will be held from March 2-6. This year’s theme is “Book an Adventure.”
In total, 660 students entered the statewide art contest. Contest participants included students in the third through 12th grades. Student artwork submitted for the contest went through several rounds of judging before winners were selected. The winners were recognized during a virtual award ceremony Nov. 20.
