BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —The Bensalem Township School Board has approved a contract extension for Schools Superintendent Samuel Lee.
Lee —one of the longest-serving superintendents in Bucks County and Pennsylvania —was reappointed for four more years as superintendent of the school district. His tenure began in July 2015 in an education career that has spanned four decades.
His new four-year contract goes into effect on July 1. Lee’s salary and terms of the contract were not disclosed by the school district.
“I am deeply honored and grateful for the opportunity to continue serving as Superintendent of Bensalem Township School District. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Board of School Directors for their confidence in my leadership and their unwavering commitment to the success of our students,” Lee said in a statement. “To the entire Bensalem community – our dedicated educators, staff, families, and students – thank you for your support, collaboration, and passion for education. It is a privilege to work alongside you in creating a nurturing and innovative learning environment where every student can thrive. I look forward to building on our shared successes, embracing new opportunities, and continuing our mission to provide the best possible education for all. Together, we will keep moving forward, ensuring a bright future for the children of Bensalem.”
Lee’s legacy consists of student-centered leadership, academic excellence, and statewide advocacy.
Under Lee’s leadership, the district has been recognized as one of the “Best Communities for Music Education” for the fifth straight year, and the district’s art department was recognized as an Outstanding Visual Arts Community by the PAEA.
For the past five consecutive years, BHS Marine Corps JROTC was officially designated as a Naval
Honor School. Only the top 20 percent of the 260 programs in the nation earn this award.
Lee managed a massive renovation of Bensalem Township High School and introduced a career pathways model that allows students to choose a pathway to focus their elective choices for their academic career.
He expanded Dual Enrollment and One-to-One technology for all students. The Chromebook initiative gives students ever-present access to technology. In addition, this initiative helps to close the digital divide between students who have technology at home and those who do not.
Lee was also instrumental in securing professional development platforms like our partnership with
Professional Learning Partnerships LLC for neurosciences. Under Dr. Lee’s leadership, BTSD expanded STEM education, student-driven research opportunities, and innovative learning experiences, ensuring students are well-prepared for future success.
