An investigation is underway after a fire broke out inside of an abandoned church in Pittsburgh’s Knoxville neighborhood Friday night. Firefighters were called to the Old Knoxville United Church on Jacunda Street around 7 p.m. Friday. There were initial reports of an explosion inside, but the fire chief told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 crews that there was no evidence of an explosion. However, it grew to a three alarm response because of the size of the building. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
