Authorities are investigating an apparent murder-suicide in Bethlehem.

The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office responded to a home in the 200 block of 10th Avenue around 10:45 p.m. Friday for a report of a deceased woman, according to a news release from Coroner Daniel A. Buglio. A 39-year-old woman with gunshot wounds was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:22 p.m., he said.

A 42-year-old man was also found in the home with gunshot wounds and was transported to St. Luke’s University Hospital Bethlehem, but died from his injuries. He was pronounced dead at 11:39 p.m.

Autopsies for the man and woman are scheduled for Monday, Jan. 5. Authorities have identified both individuals but their identities will not be publicly released out of respect to their family, Buglio said in a news release.

In addition to the coroner’s office, Bethlehem Police, Lehigh County Homicide Task force and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office are investigating.
