Eckenrode embodies these qualities every day, the district said, fostering collaboration, advocating for the vital role of school social work and helping to build school environments where students and families feel supported, valued and empowered to thrive.

“We are incredibly proud of Leanne and the passion, professionalism and heart she brings to our district each day,” Dr. Khalid N. Mumin, superintendent,  said in a statement. “Her leadership uplifts our social workers, our families and our entire community.”

Mumin praised Eckenrode for the achievement, saying the recognition is well-deserved and speaks to the essential role the social services team plays in supporting students and strengthening the district.

Ideal nominees for this award demonstrate visionary leadership, a deep commitment to social service work and a willingness to champion innovative approaches that strengthen entire school communities.

“Eckenrode represents all of this and more,” the district said in the statement. “Her dedication continues to positively impact students, families and staff across the district.”

Eckenrode said she is honored by the recognition and feels fortunate to work in a district that prioritizes student services and recognizes the significant impact such work has on students and families.

“I have the opportunity to work alongside highly dedicated social workers and student services staff and I am grateful for their ongoing commitment to students,” she said in the statement. “I am proud to be part of a team that intentionally strengthens and sustains comprehensive social work programming to effectively support students.”

The district said it congratulates Eckenrode on the outstanding accomplishment and celebrates the meaningful impact of her leadership throughout the schools.
