A man has been left homeless following a two-alarm blaze Sunday afternoon in Stockertown.

Forks Township Fire Chief Michael Vinci said the fire began just before 12:40 p.m. at the bilevel home in the 100 block of Winona Street.

Flames ignited in an upstairs bedroom, the fire chief said.

The male homeowner escaped safely on his own. One of his four cats was found deceased, another was rescued and two more are currently missing, Vinci said.

There were no other reported injuries.

The blaze went to two alarms to bring in more manpower, which included agencies from Wilson Borough, Palmer Township, Plainfield Township, Nazareth Borough and Upper Nazareth Township.

It took crews about 40 minutes to extinguish the flames, which were contained to the bedroom area, Vinci said.

The house was deemed uninhabitable by fire officials due to extensive fire and water damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
