Facility Matching Funds 2025 Check Photo.jpg

Erie Sports Commission has announced that applications are now being received for the Facility Matching Funds Program. The program will offer $75,000 in matching funds that will enhance local sports facilities and in turn support the development of sports infrastructure and increase sports tourism.

Projects aided by this program will attract new sporting events or even expand existing ones. This will increase the potential economic impact. Beginning in 2018 the program has awarded more than $240,000 to local sports facilities.

“Our goal is to continue supporting partner venues to building on our reputation as a leading destination for year-round sporting events,” said Mark Jeanneret, executive director of the Erie Sports Commission. “We know how critical this funding is for venue operators to attract more events that help increase sports tourism for our community while at the same time improving facilities for local use. We look forward to reviewing applications and awarding grants that strengthen Erie’s role as a top sports tourism destination.”

Anyone who applies can request a matching fund of up to $15,000. Those who request more than $15,000 may be considered. All applicants must be located in Erie County, and their facilities need to be available to host tournaments or grow existing events that will draw out-of-town participants.

Applicants can request matching funds up to $15,000, with requests of more than $15,000 considered in rare circumstances. Applicants must be located within Erie County and have facilities available to host tournaments or grow existing events that draw out-of-town participants.

Applications must be submitted by March 31, 2026, to the Erie Sport Commission website.

Some past recipients include ASCEND Climbing, Erie Insurance Fields at McKean, Lake Erie Speedway, Lake Shore BMX and Sinai Sports.
