The 25th Annual Jewish Food and Cultural Festival at Reform Congregation Oheb Sholom takes place Nov. 2 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the synagogue, 555 Warwick Drive, Wyomissing.

The menu features apple cake, brisket, pastrami, corned beef, hot dogs and more. New options include chopped liver, health salad, homemade coleslaw, rye bread and chocolate chip cookies See www.ohebsholom.org for the full menu.

There is no admission charge. Guests are welcome to order meals in advance at www.ohebsholom.org and pick them up at the festival. Credit cards are preferred when purchasing meals on-site. There will be dining areas throughout the building.

Cantor Stuart Binder will perform music in the Jewish tradition, and the event will feature opportunities to learn more about Judaism and its culture.

Train station open house

There will be an open house at the 1926 fully restored Wernersville Train Station, Saturday Oct 18, from 1 to 4 p.m. It is this year’s final open house presented by the Heidelberg Heritage Society. The station is located at 20 E. Penn Ave.

Reading Railroad and South Mountain Resorts artifacts will be on display, and docents will be on hand to answer questions.

Airport Karaoke

The Reading Theater Project is holding its Airport Karaoke fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 8 to 11 p.m. at the Reading Regional Airport in Bern Township.

The evening will begin with a cocktail hour and a jazz trio featuring Chris Heslop, Ken Gehret, and Kevin MacConnell. Karaoke will begin around 8:45 p.m., featuring Jewell A. Brown, aka thebeJEWELLed, DJing the night, and Adam Void as the host.

Everyone in attendance can vote on their favorite singer by purchasing raffle tickets. A trophy will be awarded to the winner of karaoke, and a dance party will follow. Guests are encouraged to come in airport-related costumes.

A cash bar and complimentary snacks will be available throughout the evening.

Fleetwood-area meeting

The Fleetwood Area Historical Society will meet Wednesday Oct. 15, at 7 p.m. in the Fleetwood Community Center, 110 W. Arch St.  The Berks County Planning Commission will discuss plans for Fleetwood borough and Maidencreek and Richmond townships.

Craft fair

The Harvest Craft Fair is set for Oct. 25 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Muhlenberg High School gym, 400 Sharp Ave, Muhlenberg Township. Activities include a craft market and basket and 50/50 raffles. Food will be available for purchase.

Spooky Hollow

Wyomissing’s annual Spooky Hollow Halloween Carnival is scheduled for Oct. 25 (rain date, Oct. 26) from 2 to 6 p.m. at Happy Hollow Playground

Activities include carnival games, crafts, a photo booth, balloon bending and an inflatable obstacle course. The Haunted Pavilion will be brought to life by the borough Recreation Committee’s Student Advisory Committee. There will be food vendors at the park during the event. Wandering judges will be on the lookout for the best and most creative costumes. The day will conclude with a showing of “The Addams Family” animated classic.

Admission is free and open to all.

Pa. German forum

The Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center at Kutztown University will host a conference Nov. 14-15, exploring the future of Pennsylvania German folklife, ethnic identity and language through academic and community presentations.

Welcoming everyone from all backgrounds to attend the event, the Heritage Center will facilitate an open and inclusive discussion with scholars and the community.

Fashion show

The Women’s Symphony Association of Lancaster is holding its annual Fashion Show & Brunch on Nov. 1 at 10 a.m. at The Eden Resort, 222 Eden Road, Lancaster.

This year’s runway will feature fashions curated by A Touch of Taste of Lititz. Guests may browse and bid on silent auction baskets to raise funds for the WSA’s mission to support young musicians. Pet costume event

A pet costume photo fundraiser is scheduled for Oct. 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Firefly Veterinary Urgent Care, 11 Ingot Drive, Blandon. A $5 donation is requested, with proceeds to help local pets in need through the Firefly Fund.

Dress your pet in a costume to be part of a friendly costume contest. Professional pet photo sessions are available. Pets without costumes also are welcome. There will be raffles, and food and refreshments will be available.

Farm fall program

The Dreibelbis Farm Historical Society presents a family-oriented fall program on Nov. 1 at 2:30 p.m. at Historic Dreibelbis Farm near Virginville.

Activities include non-scary hayrides, a bonfire, free hot dogs & s’mores, pick a pumpkin from our pumpkin patch, pumpkin-decorating and apple cider pressing. Children’s activities include face-painting and family-friendly stories told by a drama group from Kutztown University.

The fun at the bonfire lasts through the farm’s 5 p.m. closing time.  There is a $5 admission donation to benefit the historic farm, (children 3 and under are free).  The donation covers all activities and refreshments, and on-site parking is free.

Because this event has such a large outdoors component, anything more than a chance of drizzle will lead organizers to cancel.

Inclusive outdoor event

The Reading District Libraries, in partnership with Berks Nature, present Nature Stroll & Roll, an inclusive outdoor experience for patrons of all abilities on Oct. 21 at 1 p.m. at Berks Nature, 575 St. Bernardine Street, Reading.

Whether participants are walking, rolling in a wheelchair, using a cane or walker or simply prefer a slower-paced outing, this program offers a way to connect with nature. In addition to a guided stroll on smooth paths, the event will feature nature-themed activities in shaded areas.

The Historical Society of the Cocalico Valley is holding a program,  “Historic Barns of Southeastern Pennsylvania,” on Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 167 E Main St., Ephrata.

Historian Greg Huber will speak on the Sweitzer-style barns that were built in Lancaster County. He will be signing copies of his book.

Discover Fort Mifflin

The Friends of Hopewell Furnace present a talk on Fort Mifflin with preservationist Harold Finnigan on Sunday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m. Finnigan is founder and executive director of the nonprofit Fort Mifflin on the Delaware in Philadelphia. Due to the federal government shutdown and closure of Hopewell Furnace National Historic site, the program will be held at the White Horse Inn, 31 Old Philadelphia Pike, Douglassville.
