The body of 24-year-old Shawnna Elizabeth Pasquale was found on New Year’s Day.
COPLEY, Ohio — An investigation is underway in Summit County after the body of a 24-year-old woman — identified as Shawnna Elizabeth Pasquale of Erie, Pennsylvania — was found inside of a hotel room on Rothrock Road in Copley Township on New Year’s Day.
The Copley Police Department said officers responded to the scene on Jan. 1 amid a report “of an apparent deceased female.”
Detectives, along with the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office, determined the victim died as a result of a physical assault, according to a press release from the Copley Police Department.
“Her manner of death has been ruled a homicide,” according to Copley police.
Meanwhile, the Pasquale family is desperate for answers.
“I have to know what had happened and what led to that,” said Rachel Pasquale, the victim’s sister. “My heart feels like it’s breaking over and over again.”
According to Rachel Pasquale, for the past month her sister had been living at the hotel, hoping for a fresh start in Ohio.
She leaves behind a grieving family, including her four-year-old daughter.
“She was good with kids like she was just a remarkable girl, remarkable woman. I was proud to say that I was her sister,” said Brianna Pasquale, another sister.
So far, officials say no arrests have been made and no information about a suspect has been released.
“We need justice for Shauna, because she did not deserve any of this,” said Rachel Pasquale. “It’s very, very important to us that we get whoever did this, and they are locked up 100% and cannot get out.
The Copley Police Department is urging anybody with information to call detective Jerry Perona at 330-670-2708 or Lt. Mike Yovanno at 330-670-2723. Callers can remain anonymous.
