A Berks County man is accused of sexually abusing a girl for nearly a decade.
Miguel Reyes, 55, of Reading, Pennsylvania, was arrested and charged with rape of a child, rape, indecent assault, corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children.
Resources for victims of sexual assault are available through the National Sexual Violence Resources Center and the National Sexual Assault Telephone Hotline at 800-656-4673.
The investigation into Reyes began in April 2025 after detectives with the Berks County District Attorney’s Office received a report from the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services accusing Reyes of sexually abusing a girl over a period of several years.
Investigators interviewed the girl who said Reyes sexually abused her when she was between the ages of 5 and 14. The girl said the abuse took place at a home on the 400 block of South 7th Street in Reading.
When Reyes became aware of the allegations, he sent multiple messages to the girl’s mother, asking for forgiveness and pleading with her to not “have him arrested,” investigators said.
Reyes was arrested and charged on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025. He was committed to the Berks County Jail after failing to post $150,000 bail.
Online court records showing legal representation who could speak on Reyes’ behalf is not yet available.
