Jordan Shaffer scored 25 of his 27 points in the second half Tuesday night as Abington Heights rallied for a 65-49 victory over visiting Scranton in Lackawanna League Division I boys basketball action.
Andrew Kettel added 12 points — all in the second half — for the No. 6 Comets (3-0 league, 6-5 overall), who trailed by six at halftime, but outscored Scranton, 45-23, in the third and fourth quarters.
Tony Battaglia led the No. 9 Knights (1-2, 4-6) with 17 points, all of which came in the first half. Justin Mayers contributed 12 points and Deondre Dickey wound up with 10 points, all coming in the fourth quarter.
Scranton Prep 66, North Pocono 36: At Scranton Prep, Packy Doherty scored 22 points to lead the third-ranked Cavaliers to a Division I win.
Brody Martin scored all 13 of his points in the first half, and Chicky Skoff finished with nine points for Scranton Prep (3-0, 7-2).
Cole West scored 13 points and DeSantis added 12 for North Pocono (0-3, 3-8).
Holy Cross 67, Mid Valley 39: At Holy Cross, the Crusaders pulled away in the second half to defeat No. 10 Mid Valley in Lackawanna Division II and snap a four-game losing streak.
C.J. Thompson led Holy Cross with 19 points — 16 of which came in the second half when the Crusaders outscored the Spartans, 40-20, and expand an eight-point halftime lead.
Jack Alpert added 16 points for Holy Cross (1-2, 5-6). Colin Farrell chipped in 14 points and Colin Rittenbusch contributed 13 points.
Landon Pratt scored 12 points to lead Mid Valley (1-2, 5-6).
Old Forge 67, Lakeland 41: At Lakeland, Cameron Krushnowski hit six 3-pointers and finished with 18 points to power No. 5 Old Forge to a Lackawanna Division II win.
Three other players scored in double figures for the Blue Devils (3-0, 8-2). Ryan DeMarco had 15 points, Logan Fanning had 13 and Cameron Parker netted 12. Fanning also had 10 rebounds, two assists and two blocks.
Chase Rosenkrans led 11 points for the Chiefs (0-3, 5-6).
Elk Lake 69, Blue Ridge 64: At Elk Lake, John Heitsman scored eight points in the fourth quarter to help the No. 8 Warriors edge Blue Ridge in a Lackawanna Division III matchup.
Chase Pond led four Elk Lake (3-0, 10-1) players in double figures with 18 points. Heitsman and Brayden Miller finished with 16 points each and Parker Upright added 11.
Paxton Pingarelli had 17 points — 15 of which came in the second half — for Blue Ridge. Jack Parks followed with 16 points for the Raiders (1-2, 3-6).
Lackawanna Trail 51, Mountain View 41: At Lackawanna Trail, the host Lions outscored Mountain View in the third quarter, 17-5, to erase a six-point halftime deficit and earn a Lackawanna Division III victory.
Jimmy Phillips led Lackawanna Trail (3-0, 8-2) with 21 points — 15 of which came in the second half.
Wyatt Thatcher had 15 points and Hudson Bain added 12 for the Eagles (0-3, 2-8).
Susquehanna 66, Forest City 31: At Susquehanna, Griffin Fisk pumped in 29 points to lead the host Sabers past Forest City in Lackawanna Division III action.
Fisk had 22 of his points in the first half as Susquehanna built a 25-point halftime lead.
Mason Keyes added 11 points for the Sabers (3-0, 8-2).
T.J. Collins topped the Foresters (0-3, 0-11) with 10 points.
Montrose 69, Carbondale Area 61: At Montrose, the Meteors built a 22-point halftime lead, then withstood a Carbondale Area comeback in the second half for a Lackawanna Division III win.
Jude Adams led Montrose (2-1, 4-7) with 20 points, 13 of which came in the first half. Sawyer Brown added 12 points and Jai Herman chipped in 11 points.
Cameron Williams had a game-high 23 points for Carbondale Area. Francisco Roman followed with 13 points for the Chargers (0-3, 1-10).
