There are some changes coming to the weather in Western New York this weekend. Heavy rain and winds will develop and move across Buffalo from Saturday night through Sunday.
The National Weather Service office in Buffalo, New York is calling for things to change later today.
“more beneficial rain will move through the region Sunday afternoon into Sunday night with gusty winds and heavy rain possible”.
Massive Waves Expected On Lake Erie
As for the Great Lakes, the winds have a major impact on wave height and things can change quickly. The Marine Forecast is saying that conditions will be right for massive waves to form on the lakes.
From Buffalo to Ripley, NWS says: “Southwest gales to 35 knots becoming west and diminishing to 30 knots overnight. Showers. Waves 6 to 9 feet building to 10 to 13 feet, then subsiding to 7 to 10 feet. Waves occasionally around 16 feet”.
Now that the cooler weather is here and summer is long gone, many of the boats are out of the water at this point of the year. However, it is a good idea to be aware and ready if you live along the lake-shore.
Thankfully, there is not any snow or frigid weather that is expected to be a part of this weather system. Can you imagine what the driving conditions might be like if it did actually snow this weekend?
