Philly Loves Bowie Week is back, and the citywide celebration pays homage to the artist’s music, style, and creativity—bringing the city together with concerts, dance parties, film screenings, art, and pure Bowie-inspired joy.
In full swing now through Jan. 10, the week has already been jam-packed with events, from a Bowie Blitz Dance Party at City Winery, to Bowie-inspired Beer Yoga at Future Days Beer Company. Still to come, Philadelphians can celebrate the occasion with a broadcast of the story of ‘Peter And The Wolf’ performed by The Philadelphia Orchestra and narrated by David Bowie, and a DJ celebration of the musician’s greatest hits at 48 Record Bar.
Mega fans also have their time to shine on Jan. 8 with quizzo on everything involving the artist at Ray’s Happy Birthday Bar, and themed karaoke at Milkboy (the Chestnut Street location) the same night.
Friday, Jan. 9 also holds a special event: To celebrate his Jan. 8 birthday, his Jan. 10 passing, and the 50th anniversary of its 1976 release, haZy cosmic jive (a popular Bowie Tribute band) will perform Bowie’s ‘Station To Station’ album in its entirety at Philly’s Brooklyn Bowl. That same evening, fans can head to The Trestle Inn for happy hour specials (available until 8 p.m.) and Ziggy Stardust hits on vinyl.
Underground Arts is hosting its own celebration of both Bowie and Prince on Friday as well, with a look-alike contest for both artists and themed drink specials. Â A portion of the proceeds for this event is being donated to CHOP in memory of David Bowie.
To close everything out on Saturday, Jan. 10, Union Transfer will mark 10 years of Stardust performances with 14+ vocalists all belting out some of the icon’s greatest hits. A highlight every year of Philly Loves Bowie Week, this rendition will feature some past performers of the show from the Delaware, Philly, NYC, Baltimore and Chicago area. It’s recommended to get tickets sooner rather than later, as this particular showcase sells out fast.
For those who can’t make it out for Philly Loves Bowie Week, The Ritz Five will house the ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’ with a Bowie Tribute as its opener later this month. Produced by Philly’s own Transylvanian Nipple Productions, the event will be in full swing on Jan. 16.
Philly Loves Bowie Week proves that Bowie’s spirit still thrives in the city’s creative heartbeat. It’s more than a tribute—it’s a shared celebration of individuality, imagination, and connection, where fans of every age come together to sing, move, and remember. All you have to do is get your glitter ready.
