The Celtic Classic Highland Games & Festival kicked off its 38th annual three-day celebration of Irish, Scottish and Welsh heritage through music, games and food Friday evening in Bethlehem.
Festival goers will be treated to more than just the 20th annual U.S. National Highland Games Championship, which will include caber-tossing, hammer-throwing and more on display.
This year the Bethlehem-based Celtic Cultural Alliance will showcase a Scottish Scones Baking Contest, a Celtic Poetry Contest, and the Haggis Bowl 2025, where fifteen competitors will race to consume a pound of haggis in the shortest time.
The games’ Highland Field at Main and Spring streets is also home to the sounds of pipe bands, as well as border collies showcasing their instinct and training.
All around the field, food vendors are serving up fare of the British Isles, as well as domestic standards and desserts.
