Scranton Prep’s all-star lineup of swimmers dominated in a 95-61 win over defending Lackawanna League champion Elk Lake on Wednesday night in a girls’ swimming meet at the University of Scranton.
Rebecca Oakes posted wins in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100 free, as she battled Elk Lake’s Brynn Warriner in a matchup of All-Region athletes and District 2 champions.
Oakes, last season’s Times-Tribune Girls Swimmer of the Year, won the 50 free in 25.02 seconds, finishing just ahead of Warriner, who had a time of 25.73. Oakes won the 100 free in 54.87.
In addition, Oakes competed on the winning 200 medley and the 200 free relays for the undefeated Classics.
Eva Kaszuba, a returning district champion and PIAA Class 2A medal winner, won the 200 individual medley, the 100 breaststroke, and was also a member of two winning relay teams. Sophia Galko won the 100 fly and the 100 back, and was a member of the 200 medley relay and the 400 free relay for Scranton Prep, which took first place in all 11 events.
Ella Schofield (200 free) and Anna Millett (500 free) won the distance races for the Classics.

Delaware Valley 111, Wallenpaupack 69: Chloe Cruz, Sasha Novikov, Kayleigh Jagger, Elizabeth Bailey, and Mariana Wyss had individual wins to lead the undefeated Lady Warriors.
Zoee Stuckey and Samira Feller each had two individual wins and contributed to a relay win for Wallenpaupack.

Holy Cross 62, Scranton 61: Claire Polishan, Ava Kochmer, and Gemma Bistran each won an individual event and competed on two winning relays to lead the Lady Crusaders. All three teamed with Anna Polishan to win the 400 free relay to clinch the victory.
Heidi Dowd won the 50 free and was on a winning relay for Scranton.

Boys basketball
Trey Newton and Colin McGarvey each scored five points in overtime to lift No. 7 Delaware Valley to a 57-52 win over West Scranton on Wednesday in a Lackawanna League Division I boys basketball game.
Newton finished with a game-high 23 points, and McGarvey had 12 for the Warriors (8-3, 1-2).
Nate Schimelfenig hit four 3-pointers and finished with 22 points to lead West Scranton (4-7, 1-2). Aiden Diaz, who made four 3-pointers, added 13 points for the Invaders.
Honesdale 58, Western Wayne 49: Levi Martin scored 16 points to lead the Hornets to a Division II win.
Jacob Ramos knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and finished with 12 points, and Gavin Briggs had 10 points for Honesdale (6-5, 2-1).
Jacob Lawlor drilled seven 3-pointers for 21 points to lead Western Wayne (2-8, 0-3). Xavier James added 10 points for the Wildcats.
