The City of Erie has awarded Dr. R. Anthony Snow one of its highest civic honors, the Key to the City, in recognition of a lifetime of distinguished service to both country and community.
Dr. Snow served 22 years in the United States Air Force, completing two deployments and earning twelve medals for leadership and dedication before retiring as a Colonel. His military legacy is preserved at the Hagen History Center, where his uniform is displayed as part of Erie’s living history.
Beyond his military service, Dr. Snow has spent more than four decades caring for Erie families as a trusted physician and has guided public health initiatives as Medical Director for the Erie County Department of Health for over 30 years. His leadership has shaped generations of health outcomes in the region.
Together with his wife, Kathy Iorio, Dr. Snow co-founded WellFit, Inc., whose flagship program, Wellsville, promotes healthy, active lifestyles for children and families through education, kindness, and joyful learning.
The Key to the City is reserved for individuals whose contributions create meaningful and lasting impact. Dr. Snow’s military service, medical leadership, and dedication to community wellness exemplify the spirit of this honor.
