Nyah Yao came into Thursday night needing 16 points to reach 1,000 for her career, and she made it interesting.

The Radnor senior guard hit the number right on the nose, sealing the milestone with a pair of free throws with 3:54 left in the fourth quarter as the Raptors claimed a 38-20 Central League win over Upper Darby.

Yao finished with exactly 16 points, becoming just the fourth player in program history to reach the 1,000-point mark. She is the first Radnor girls player to do it since Ellie Mueller in 2019.

Bree Simpson added 10 points for Radnor, which clamped down defensively and outscored Upper Darby 20-5 in the second half.

Cameron Ross led the Royals with seven points.

In other Central League games:

Marple Newtown 32, Garnet Valley 19 >> The Tigers knocked off the reigning league champion Jaguars behind a strong inside effort from senior center Rowan Hilden, who produced 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Junior guard Olivia Gicking delivered a steady all-around performance with five points, four steals and three assists, and Kirsten Milliken chipped in five points for Marple.

In the Catholic League:

Cardinal O’Hara 46, Archbishop Wood 37 >> The Lions (10-0, 2-0) stayed perfect behind 18 points from senior Meg Rullo, and outscored the Vikings 16-6 in the fourth quarter.

In the Del Val League:

Penn Wood 59, Chichester 12 >> Elisia Lawrence led a balanced attack for the Patriots, scoring a game-high 12 points. Anye Caple followed with 11 points. Kenya Mills had nine points and Jaylah Kennedy finished with seven.

In the Ches-Mont League:

Sun Valley 56, Oxford 6 >> The Vanguards (11-1) held the Hornets scoreless in the second half to cruise to their seventh straight win.

Nine Sun Valley players found the scoring column, led by Luci Damico’s 17 points. Samantha Baron and Ana Heygood-Corrales added nine apiece.

Boys Basketball

Grayson Golek hit a putback as time expired in the fourth quarter, giving Garnet Valley a 53-51 win over Marple Newtown in Central League action.

Golek led the Jaguars with 22 points.

Elsewhere in the Central League:

Upper Darby 64, Radnor 50 >> Marlon Boreland ‘s 22-point performance propelled the Royals to a blowout of the Raptors.

The Royals led 15-7 after the first quarter and were up by as many as 20 in the second half. Ten UD players reached the scoring column, including Tahli Murray, who finished with 14 points.

Ellis Margolis led the way for the Raptors with 21 points.

Harriton 54, Haverford 49 >> Carson Uff (14 points) and Andrew Brown (11) each scored in double figures for the Fords.

Reid Belcher finished with a game-high 21 points for the Rams.

Ridley 59, Strath Haven 47 >> Luke Ladislaw was a perfect 8-for-8 from the line for 16 pints, nine of his points in the second half as Ridley (5-7, 1-7) got its first league win.

Chase Williams added 15 points, six rebounds and four assists. Allen Brydges paired nine points with six assists.

Theo Jauregui led Strath Haven (5-7, 2-5) with 11 points. John Reilly paired 10 points with 10 rebounds. Jalen Starr added nine points and four assists.

In the Ches-Mont League:

Sun Valley 42, Oxford 32 >> Jahmil Smith powered the Vanguards with 14 points, while Aden Bambgose finished with nine.

In the Del Val League:

Penn Wood 53, Chichester 42 >> Bellvin Smith fronted a balanced Penn Wood effort with 12 points as four Patriots reached double figures. Haji Ali added 11, while Malik Edwards and Nafi Davis chipped in 10 apiece.

Alim Harris kept Chi within striking distance, scoring 17 of his 23 points after halftime and going 13-for-16 at the line in the fourth quarter, but the Eagles could not close the gap.

Girls Swimming

Penncrest’s Morgan Peterson set a pool record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:07.38 as the Lions edged Strath Haven 99-87 in a Central League meet.

Peterson also helped the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay to wins and captured first place in the 100 freestyle. Amelia Reno was a triple winner, taking the 200 free and 100 butterfly and swimming on the victorious 400 free relay. Addison Schwelm won the 50 free and 500 free and was part of both winning relays. Cora Scholtz claimed the diving title, and Meghan Neidich won the individual medley for Penncrest.

Marlo DiSilva earned first place in the 100 backstroke for Strath Haven.

Boys Swimming

Travis McDonough led the charge for Strath Haven in a 103-80 win over Penncrest. He swam the opening leg of the winning 200 medley relay, anchored the victorious 200 free relay, and won the 50 freestyle.

Strath Haven’s Ben Lu and Penncrest’s Brendan Dougherty shared first place in the 200 individual medley with matching times of 2:21.61. Niko Christodouleas also posted multiple wins for Strath Haven, swimming on both relay winners and taking the 100 freestyle. Lu added a win in the 100 breaststroke, while Javier Celebre swept the 500 free and 100 backstroke.

Wrestling

Joe DiMarino at 160 and Wyatt Panarello at 172 made quick work of their opponents, both rolling to technical falls as Garnet Valley steamrolled Conestoga 65-6 in a Central League dual late Wednesday.

The Jaguars piled up bonus points with pins from Dylan Kessler (107), Caleb Ayala (121), Peyton Duffy (127), Ryan Vance (139), Owen Burns (145), Aaron Jenkins (152) and Paxton Hunt (215). Nicholas Potts capped it with a major decision at heavyweight.

In a nonleague meet:

Haverford 63, Episcopal Academy 12 >> The Fords were in control all night, getting falls from Luke Reimer (107), Lucas McFarland (121), Matthew Diska (127), Oliver Rutberg (131), Luca Rappe (139), Nathan Messano (145), Jake Smith (160), Christopher Hoopes (172) and Michael Scinto (189). Andrew McCoach added an 11-7 decision at 152.

Episcopal picked up pins from Chris Snyder at 215 and David Lavender at 285.
