Lora J. Scranton, age 54, of New Canton, IL passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.  She was born on May 14, 1971, in Pittsfield, IL to Carl Swartz and Bertha (Fox) Swartz.  She married Greg Scranton on July 10, 2023, in El Dara, IL and he survives. 

Lora attended schools in Pittsfield and Barry.  She worked at Carl’s Kitchen, The Purple Martin Inn, and the Cardinal Inn all of which her father owned and operated.  She also worked at K & E Grocery Store in Barry.  After working at the Cardinal Inn, she became a homemaker, taking care of her husband, children and grandchildren.  She enjoyed crocheting, crafting, diamond painting and online shopping. Lora was an excellent cook and baker; she made the most amazing chili and chicken and noodles/dumplings.  Lora loved the outdoors, whether it was riding ATV’s, mowing her yard or attending the local derby’s.  She also loved a day at the nail salon. Lora could be a bit stubborn and strong willed but most of all she loved her family and always had their back.  She was an amazing wife, mother, and nana.

Lora is survived by her husband Greg; children, A.J. Street, Jesse (Tera Evanchak) Street, Dustin Street, Natasha Baughman, Nevaeh Williams, Harley Williams; step-daughter Brianna (Cody) McCoy; grandchildren, August Street, Dayton Baughman, Liam Baughman, Avalynn Baughman, Jayden McCoy, Mackenzie McCoy, Tristan McCoy and Brantley McCoy; siblings, Bill (Linda) Swartz, Mark (Laurie) Miller, Terry Swartz, Brenda Miller, Timmy Swartz, Jimmy Miller, Ronnie Miller, Donnie (Angela) Swartz, Michael (Susan) Swartz and Missy (Kyle) Killebrew; step-mother, Luetta Swartz; several aunt, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her father Carl Swartz, mother and stepfather Bertha and Richard Miller; stepdaughter, Stephanie Scranton.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday October 22, 2025, at 10:30 AM at the Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry, IL.  Visitation will be on Tuesday October 21, 2025, from 4:00PM-6:00PM.  Memorials are suggested to be made to the family c/o Niebur Funeral Chapel.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry, IL is handling the arrangements.
