ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The city of Allentown has a new member of City Council.

Cristian Pungo was sworn in Monday, along with Jeremy Binder.

Pungo is 28 years old, a first-generation Latino American, and is bilingual. He tells 69 News his goal is to help build up Allentown, with a focus on expanding affordable housing.

He says one reason he decided to run was to bring change to City Council and the mayor’s office. Pungo believes a contentious relationship between the two can hurt the city and says he wants to see more unity moving forward.
