The Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills is losing another major store, as Macy’s plans to close its location at the mall.A Macy’s spokesperson on Friday confirmed to Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that the store will be closed.”The decision allows us to focus on improving nearby Macy’s locations and invest in the stores and digital experiences where customers are choosing to shop today,” Macy’s said in a statement e-mailed to Pittsburgh’s Action News 4.The statement did not confirm a closing date for the Pittsburgh Mills store. A clearance sale was expected to begin this month and run for about 10 weeks.”We first communicated directly with our Macy’s colleagues at Pittsburgh Mills and are supporting them through the transition, including transfer opportunities where available and severance and support where applicable,” the statement said.Other Macy’s locations in western Pennsylvania include Monroeville Mall, Ross Park Mall, South Hills Village, Mall at Robinson and Westmoreland Mall.Macy’s continued to execute its “Bold New Chapter” strategy, which includes “closing underproductive stores and streamlining operations,” according to a memo from CEO Tony Spring posted on the company’s website this week.More changes at Pittsburgh MillsIn April 2025, WTAE’s news partners at the Trib reported that the Macy’s store at Pittsburgh Mills was put up for sale.In June, Dick’s Sporting Goods closed its Pittsburgh Mills store as the company prepared to open a new location at The Waterworks.
