A Philadelphia man arrested Tuesday sold crack cocaine to a confidential informant, state troopers and Lackawanna County detectives charge.

The informant told investigators with the Lackawanna County Drug Task Force they could purchase cocaine from a go-between, who accepts money for the drug and then contacts a dealer.

Robert Berry, 32, is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. The intermediary has not been charged.

According to the criminal complaint:

The informant arranged to meet the intermediary Tuesday in Dunmore. Investigators provided $1,400 in buy money.

Investigators watched the informant enter the go-between’s residence at about 4:20 p.m. A red Jeep pulled in front of the residence about 15 minutes later.

The intermediary got into the SUV briefly and then went back into the residence. The informant turned over crack cocaine to investigators minutes later.

Detectives stopped the Jeep as it approached West Pine Street from Veterans Drive. They detained Berry and another man.

Investigators determined Berry sold the drug to the go-between.

Detectives found a plastic bag containing 3.6 grams of crack cocaine in Berry’s sweatshirt pocket and $520 in cash, including the buy money.

He remains at Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. on Jan. 15 before District Judge Joanne Corbett.
