PLAINS TWP. — After years working as a business executive, Neil Patel is getting into the bagel business.
The Mountain Top man has launched Toastee Bagels, a breakfast and lunch spot that specializes in authentic Jersey-style bagels.
Patel, 59, joined area business leaders and Plains Twp. officials on Friday to celebrate the opening of his first store at 1329 Route 315, just north of the Mohegan Pennsylvania casino.
Other stores in Dallas and Clarks Summit are “coming soon,” he said.
“I started this. This is my brand,” Patel said.

Toastee Bagels are “authentic Jersey-style bagels that are crafted from scratch-made dough, then boiled and baked on cedar boards,” Patel said.
“You can taste the quality in every bite of a Toastee bagel. Our bagels are hand-crafted and baked fresh throughout the day,” Patel said. “They’re perfect for the morning rush, lunch, or a post-practice stop.
Patel, of Mountain Top, said he plans to donate leftovers to local food banks and churches.
The menu also includes breakfast sandwiches, pastries, coffee and espresso drinks. Lunch options feature hot and cold sandwiches served on a bagel, wrap or hoagie roll, as well as salads.
Catering is also available.
Toastee Bagels will be open daily 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
