Karen O’Neil
OBITUARY
Karen O’Neil, 70, of the Green Ridge Section of Scranton died Tuesday October 14, 2025 at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit. Her husband of 43 years is Carl A. O’Neil.
Born in Scranton she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Helen Hadad Gardner. A graduate of Scranton Central High School, Class of 1973 and Marywood College, prior to retirement she was a teacher in the Scranton School District. She was extremely proud of her teaching career, and she truly valued her students. Active in her community she was a Girl Scout leader for 35 years. Karen was a devoted and loving wife and her family was everything. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Also surviving are daughters Jamesine Pindar, Kathleen O’Neil, Candice O’Neil; son Carl J. O’Neil, all of Scranton; granddaughter Isla Noel O’Neil-Gibbs; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by daughter Elizabeth M. O’Neil.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 9:30 am in Elm Park United Methodist Church, 712 Linden St., Scranton. Interment will follow in Dunmore Cemetery. All attending the funeral asked to proceed directly to church. Family and friends may pay their respects Friday from 5-7 pm in the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., Scranton. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her daughter Elizabeth’s memory to St. Joseph’s Center, 2010 Adams Ave, Scranton, PA 18509.
