ROBERTSON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) – A Robertson County man died in a crash on Bethlehem Road in Bourbon County Saturday night, his family confirmed.
Charles “CJ” McKee, 27, was killed in the crash. McKee was a father of three from Mt. Olivet.
McKee’s mother, Melissa, said he was traveling through Bourbon County with his friend when the crash happened. She said his friend, Nate Pack, was driving and was charged with reckless homicide.
The Bourbon County Sheriff’s Office has not confirmed this with us, but the Bourbon County Jail’s website shows Nate Pack was booked on that charge, along with failure to wear a seatbelt and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
“They’ve been friends since middle school. I lost my baby, but Nate’s life got ruined too,” Melissa said.
Family focuses on memories
Melissa said the family is trying to focus on good memories of CJ despite the tragedy.
“Always the best, always in a good mood, and if you wasn’t, he was gonna try to do something silly to make you laugh,” she said.
McKee leaves behind three young children, along with friends and family.
“Where the girls are so young, they’re not gonna remember him, but they was his world. He loved his kids, he loved his friends, he loved everybody. He was a great, great person,” Melissa said.
