William Hess, 68 of Erie, has died due to injuries sustained after he was struck by a vehicle just before 7 a.m. on Jan. 7. Hess was reported illegally crossing the road from east to west in the crosswalk. He had been struck in the northbound lane by a Silver Jeep that had a green light.
The driver was cleared of all wrongdoing with no charges placed and the case has been closed.
Hess later died at UPMC Hamot after succumbing to his injuries on Jan. 8. The Erie County Coroner is still searching for the victim’s family.
