Harrisburg, Pa. — A distillery from Montoursville has won an award at the Pennsylvania Farm Show’s first Spirits competition.

Pour Decisions Distillery took first place for their popular Wiley Whiskey in the category whiskey (other). An award ceremony was held on Saturday, Jan. 10 at the Farm Show complex in Harrisburg.

This marks the first year the Pennsylvania Farm show has held a Spirts Competition. Distilleries from across the state participated to win prizes in categories including Brandy, Rum, Distilled Spirits Specialty, Ready-to-Drink, multiple whiskey categories, Best in Show, and Pa. Preferred.

Pour Decisions, owned by Matt and Brooke Sehenuk of Montoursville, has been distilling small-batch hand-crafted spirits including whiskey and vodka for the past several years. The business recently opened a tasting room at 1165 Mountain Road, Montoursville, and is expanding offerings including igloo seating starting this winter. Pour Decisions currently distributes their spirits to 28 Fine Wines and Spirits stores in the area and serves at more than 30 bars and restaurants in the state.

The distillery uses locally sourced ingredients, including corn from a nearby farm and malted grains grown in Pennsylvania. The barrel cooperage Pour Decisions uses is just 50 miles away from their home base.

Winning spirit Wiley Whiskey was inspired by Matt’s father-in-law, Bob Wiley. The two men would have a happy hour every day during the warmer months and this inspired Matt to learn how to make his own whiskey. The hobby that began for Matt in 2013 eventually led to Pour Decisions opening for business nine years later.

In a Facebook post Sunday night, the Sehenuks expressed gratitude. “We are truly honored to receive this high award and it just goes to show the effort and care we take in producing the highest quality spirits right here at our small distillery,” the post read.

Pour Decision’s tasting room is open noon to 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays. Additional information can be found on their website, Facebook, or Instagram pages.
