Mary Frances Tyson
OBITUARY
Mary Frances Tyson passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 8, 2026, surrounded by her loving daughters. She was the widow of Francis D. Tyson, who died in January 2021. They were married for 72 years.
Mary was born April, 5, 1930, in Scranton, PA. The oldest of four children to Robert and Alice Flynn Corby, Mary was a loving nurturer to her three brothers and all family that came along throughout her many years. Mary was blessed with four daughters, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A graduate of Scranton Technical High School, she worked for several years with Weight Watchers, gathering many friends along the way. She cherished her relationships with her long-time friends through the years. She was a dedicated military wife to Francis and an all around sweet, loving person.
Mary is survived by her four daughters, Mary Summa, Suzanne Phillips (Joseph), Paula Kubick (Richard) and Elizabeth Tyson, her seven grandchildren: Colleen Jameson (Michael), Francis Phillips (Amelia), Robert Phillips (Katie), Jeffery Summa, Julie Powell (Johnathan), Emily Marino (Mitch), and Stephen Kubick (Besjana), her great grandchildren; Erin, Ryan, Natalie, Jackson, Cecilia, Bennett, Rowen, Juniper and Violet. Also, a brother, John Corby.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis, brothers Robert and Francis Corby, son-in-law Andrew Summa and many dear friends.
The funeral will be Wednesday, January 14, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church, 1510 Penn Ave., Scranton. Friends may call at the church one hour before the mass. Internment, The Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. Arrangements are under the care of The Eugene Cusick Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Green Ridge Care Center for their loving care of our mother.
