Prominent civil rights attorney Ben Crump will be the featured speaker at the 15th annual Dr. King Awards Dinner in Erie on Jan. 17.
The theme for this year’s dinner is “Injustice Anywhere Is A Threat To Justice Everywhere.”

Where will the dinner take place?
The dinner will start at 6 p.m. at the Ambassador Hotel & Conference Center, 7794 Peach Street. Ticket purchasing options are closed as the event is sold out. Tickets were $75 per person or $600 for a table of 10.
About Ben Crump
Nationally known for representing families in high-profile police killing cases, Crump represented the families of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor.
Crump also came to Erie’s Second Baptist Church in August to stand beside the family of Marchello D. Woodard, 43, a parolee who was fatally shot in July on Erie’s east side.
Kevin J. Seelinger, a 35-year-old Pennsylvania state parole agent, is charged with criminal homicide and other charges in the case; authorities allege he shot and killed Woodard during a compliance check.
Crump is the president of the National Civil Rights Trial Lawyers Association and previously served as president of the National Bar Association.
He has been a frequent contributor to MSNBC, CNN and USA Today and is the authority of the book “Open Season: Legalized Genocide of Colored People” which, reflects on his cases and disparities within the American criminal justice system.
Crump has also been involved with various documentaries and television series as a host, writer and/or executive producer.
Crump is a graduate of Florida State University and its law school.
