Upper Darby Township announced Wednesday that it has reached an agreement with STAT EMS Medical Transport to provide emergency medical services, basic life support (BLS) and advanced life support (ALS).

The service begins Monday “aligning with the end of Crozer Health’s EMS service in the region. STAT EMS will be fully equipped to deliver timely and professional medical transport and on-scene emergency care,” the township said in a press release.

“Our priority has always been the safety and well-being of our residents. This alliance with STAT will provide for that,” said Mayor Edward Brown. “I’m pleased that, through the efforts led by CAO (Chief Administrative Officer Crandall) Jones and Interim Fire Chief (Brian) Boyce, we were able to come up with a solution to such a critical and complex issue in a very short period; and I appreciate the Township Council’s support getting this done.”

Upper Darby reminded residents to call 911 in the event of an emergency. Calls will be directed to the appropriate responding unit to ensure the fastest response.

Residents can find out more information and get ongoing updates at www.upperdarby.org or follow the township’s social media accounts.
