Andrew Francis Zaleski
OBITUARY
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Andrew Francis Zaleski of Santa Ana, California. Andrew, affectionately known as Chuck, Andy, Uncle Chuck and The Bugler, died at home on November 14, 2025.
Andrew was a Scranton native who relocated to California, where he lived for 47 years. In 1978, he packed up his Volkswagen Beetle and left his South Scranton home with his dear friends Patty and Carolyn to live in the sunny state of California. Before his move, he graduated from South Catholic High School, attended Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA, and graduated from East Stroudsburg University with a degree in sociology. Andrew worked for the US Postal Service for 38 years, where he made lifelong friends.
Chuck was thoughtful, intelligent, loyal, generous and principled. He was a lover of music who also enjoyed reading, the New York Yankees and walking in Peter’s Canyon. To quote a close friend of his, I would consider him a great humanitarian and just an all around good guy. Anyone who knew him could agree with this statement. Rest easy, Chuck, you will be missed.
The answer my friend is blowin in the wind, the answer is blowin in the wind. – Bob Dylan
He is survived by eight siblings, Susan Zaleski, Scranton; Andrea Zaleski Yerke, Throop; Mark Zaleski and wife, Tammy, Milford; Ann Emmett, Forest City; George Zaleski and Mary Clare Reilly, Scranton; Matt Zaleski and wife, Donna, Scranton; Maria and husband, Mark Lavelle, Dunmore; Henry Zaleski and wife, Maggie, Scranton and numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Ann Wotanis Zaleski, and brothers-in-law John Yerke and John Emmett.
Interment will be at a later date in Sacred Hearts Cemetery, South Scranton.
