Pedestrians passing the Lackawanna County Government Center in downtown Scranton might notice new displays featuring photographs depicting the downtown’s historic past. The photos provided by the Lackawanna Historical Society predominately depict scenes of central downtown Scranton and offer something of a window back in time. They’re the latest addition to the front face of the government center at the former Globe Store overhauled in recent years by major facade and entranceway renovations, county Deputy Chief of Staff Traci Harte said. Beyond bolstering the street-level aesthetics of the Wyoming Avenue landmark and its entrance area, Harte said the photo displays hark back to the days when pedestrians and Globe Store patrons sauntering past the same building would pause for some window shopping.
