Fire crews quickly contained a house fire in Cumru Township Tuesday afternoon.
The fire in the first block of Hilgert Avenue was reported shortly after 2 p.m.
The homeowner said the oven was in self cleaning mode and caught fire. Crews at the scene said the flames extended beyond the oven, with smoke showing from the garage.
Firefighters staged on Hilgert Avenue and stretched a line up the driveway.
Within a few minutes of the start of operations, the bulk of the fire was knocked down, and crews were ventilating the home with a fan.
The fire was placed under control at 2:35 p.m.
