SCRANTON, LACKWANNA CO. (WOLF) — A 19-year-old Dickson City man has been taken into custody as part of an ongoing death investigation in Scranton.

Scranton Police said detectives arrested James Michael “JB” Barbarino on Friday with assistance from the Dickson City and Throop police departments. Authorities located Barbarino at a residence in Dickson City, where he was wanted on multiple felony charges related to a stolen firearm.

According to investigators, the firearm was reported stolen from a home in Archbald on November 30, 2025. Police later recovered the weapon on December 12 during a death investigation on Bryn Mawr Street in Scranton.

As a result of the investigation, Barbarino has been charged with several offenses, including receiving stolen property, illegal sale of firearms, selling a firearm to an ineligible individual, criminal use of a communications facility, and theft by unlawful taking.

Police emphasized that the death investigation remains active. Detectives are continuing to work the case and are seeking assistance from the public.
