Noah Elias’ 3-pointer with 85 seconds remaining put Lackawanna College ahead and the Falcons went on to defeat Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, 81-76, in a nonregion men’s basketball game Tuesday at the Lackawanna College Student Union.

Trailing, 73-72, Elias’ shot gave Lackawanna a 75-73 lead. Jaksa Pejovic followed with a basket to extend the lead to four. Thaddeus Stevens hit a 3-pointer, but two foul shots each by Jahsan Simms and Pejovic in the final 21 seconds sealed the win for the Falcons (9-7).

Pejovic led five players in double figures with 19 points and also grabbed 11 rebounds. Latrell Mark had a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds and dished out seven assists. David Popson also finished with 11 points, while Elias and Simms chipped in with 10 points apiece.

Women’s basketball

At La Plume, Keystone College lost to Cedar Crest College, 71-57, in a United East Conference game at the Gambal Athletic Center.

Mid Valley graduate Krista Cortazar led the Lady Giants (2-4 league, 3-14 overall) with 17 points. Tayana Bibbins added 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals, while Jayda Price contributed nine points and four assists off the bench. Phaneirra Barnett totaled seven points and five rebounds.

Keystone never led, but was within 55-49 following a 3-pointer by Cortazar midway through the fourth quarter. However, Cedar Crest used a 10-5 spurt over the next 2½ minutes to secure the win.
