Valley Community Library in Peckville and the Lackawanna County Children’s Library in Scranton ushered in 2026 with Noon Year’s Eve parties on Dec. 31. The midday celebrations featured a countdown to noon, giving kids an opportunity to ring in the new year even if they didn’t stay up until midnight.

At the Valley Community Library, children read books about New Year’s, made “toast” and participated in a New Year bingo scavenger hunt in addition to coloring and dancing. The Lackawanna County Children’s Library celebration included story time, a dance party, noisemakers and sparkling juice.
