SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— There are no fears of melting ice in Scranton at this year’s downtown on ice event. Streets in the center city are lined with hand-carved ice sculptures.

The annual event kicks off on Friday at 6:00 p.m.

28/22 News is in downtown Scranton, where everyone is getting ready for the fifth annual downtown ice festival.

Wawa expands further into Luzerne County

There are more than 50 ice sculptures that are scattered across 30 blocks of downtown Scranton! Organizers are welcoming everyone to join them downtown for some frigid fun!

This year’s ice sculpture theme is Toys from all Generations.

The ice festival starts at 6:00 p.m. and continues into the evening hours. Several businesses will open late. The festival will run through the weekend.
