Over 30 participants braved the cold to paddle three miles down the Lackawanna River for Shiverfest, supporting efforts to maintain clean waterways in Scranton.

SCRANTON, Pa. — On Saturday, more than 30 people paddled down the Lackawanna River in Scranton to support a non-profit that works to keep the waterways clean.

Shiverfest has been chattering teeth for well over a decade.

Paddlers launched from the Parker Street landing just after noon and made their way through the snow to Sweeney’s Beach, almost three miles away.

They were then treated to a warm drink at the after-party.

Organizers say the yearly event benefits the Lackawanna River Conservation Association.
