The Pittsburgh Steelers are keeping one of their depth defensive backs. Cornerback According to the NFL transactions page, D’Shawn Jamison signed a reserve/future contract on Saturday, remaining with the team that he spent all of this season with.

Jamison was elevated from the Steelers’ practice squad ahead of last week’s Wild Card playoff loss to the Houston Texans. He was called up three other times, playing on the Steelers’ special teams units against the Cincinnati Bengals (Nov. 16), Cleveland Browns (Dec. 28) and Baltimore Ravens (Jan. 4). He got work covering kicks and punts, along with running one kick back himself, gaining 20 yards.

Jamison turned in a solid effort in the preseason, tallying eight tackles, a quarterback hit and a forced fumble, but didn’t make the Steelers’ 53-man roster. He was signed to the practice squad not long after being released.

Jamison initially joined the Steelers in September 2024 and spent that whole season on the practice squad. He signed a reserve/future contract with Mike Tomlin’s team at the end of last season, too.

Before landing in Pittsburgh, Jamison was signed as an undrafted free agent by the San Francisco 49ers after the 2023 NFL Draft. He also spent time with the Carolina Panthers, with whom he played in 15 games and started two as a rookie.

Jamison, a Houston native, was 247Sports’ No. 103-ranked overall recruit in the 2018 class. He chose to play for the Texas Longhorns, appearing in 60 games during his career in Austin. He posted six interceptions in burnt orange, defended 17 total passes, recovered two fumbles and forced another. Jamison also returned kicks for the Longhorns, piling up the fourth-most kick return yards (1,435) in the program’s history.
