NC State’s search for six wins resumes in Pittsburgh on Saturday, and not surprisingly, the Wolfpack head into the matchup as a solid underdog. The task may be a little more difficult than the seven-point Vegas line paints it, as SP+ has the Panthers 12 points better.
Pittsburgh is 5-2 on the season and coming in riding a three-game winning streak after handling Syracuse 30-13 this past weekend. If the Panthers had been able to hang on to the lead they staked themselves against Louisville, we’d be talking about a four-game streak with some hype to it.
Pitt has a top-40 offense and defense, and has scored at least 24 points in every game this season. The Panthers have scored at least 30 points in three straight. It’s a tough matchup for NC State’s beleaguered defense, which we can hope will be a bit healthier coming off the bye week.
Gonna need some bounces, though. And for CJ Bailey to get back to playing well.
