A Carbon County man has died following a standoff Sunday morning with police at a Super 8 motel in Allentown, authorities said.

The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased as 62-year-old Mica R. Kincaid of Weissport. Kincaid died from a gunshot wound and the manner was ruled a suicide by Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio.

Just after 10:15 a.m. Sunday, Pennsylvania State Police in Bethlehem responded to the parking lot of the motel, 1033 Airport Road, to serve Kincaid with an arrest warrant. The warrant stemmed from a reported parole violation out of Carbon County, state police said.

Kincaid ran into a motel room and barricaded himself inside with a firearm, state police said.

The Allentown Emergency Response Team (ERT) attempted to negotiate with Kincaid for about three hours to surrender peacefully, Trooper Nathan Branosky, public information officer with Pennsylvania State Police’s Troop M, told lehighvalleylive.com.

Airport Road — between East Congress Street and Union Boulevard — was shut down during the standoff.

Investigators later found Kincaid deceased in the motel room, state police said.

Airport Road reopened to traffic just before 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

This incident continues to be investigated by Pennsylvania State Police’s Troop M Criminal Investigation Unit and the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office.
