PITTSBURGH, PA — Outside is not the place to be in Southwestern Pennsylvania on Tuesday.
The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for all of southwestern Pennsylvania in effect until noon today.
The high temperature on Tuesday is expected to climb to 18 degrees. Factoring in the wind chill, the temperature today will feel like 8 degrees below zero.
A brief thaw will occur on Wednesday and Thursday, with highs reaching the mid- to upper 30s. But the weather service is warning that daily temperatures are forecast to remain low enough Friday
through Monday or Tuesday to potentially impact regional infrastructure, such as frozen pipes, and putting a strain on the energy grid.
Friday’s high will be near 22, with a low around three degrees. On Saturday, the high temperature could hit 14, with the low temperature falling to eight.
On Sunday, the high will be near 19, with the low around seven.
On Monday, the high will be near 20.
According to The Weather Channel, no immediate warmup will occur. High temperatures in the area will be in the teens and 20s for the remainder of the month.
