Accumulating snow and strong wind led to reduced visibility in Upstate New York on Monday evening, January 19, as heavy lake-effect snow impacted towns off Lake Erie.

Richard Hulburd, who posts videos as @weather_buffalo, captured the difficult driving conditions in Erie County, south of Buffalo.

He told Storyful that wind gusts were over 50 mph and had led to many cars going off the side of the road, power outages, and road closures.

Accumulation rates were predicted to be up to four inches per hour as snow continued into Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service. Credit: @weather_buffalo via Storyful
