Michael R. Hales, Sr.
OBITUARY
Michael R. Hales, Sr., 59, a resident of Scranton, died Friday at Allied Hospice. His wife of 33 years is the former Mary Alice Lahey.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Audrey Klepadlo Hales. He was a graduate of Scranton Central High School, was a US Navy veteran serving on the USS Iowa, was employed as a Firefighter for the Scranton Fire Department for 25 years, was a member of the Firefighter’s Union, and after retirement, he was employed in the activities department of Glen Maura Senior Living. Mike was always a person that gave his all to everyone. The family wishes to thank Glen Maura Senior Living and the Scranton Fire Department for their support through Mikes’s illness.
Also surviving are two daughters; Megan Murray and husband John, Chapel Hill, NC, and Lauren Gratz and husband Tyler, Clarks Summit, his son Michael Hales, Jr., Scranton, grandchildren; Rosalie and Theodore Murray, NC, and Eliana Gratz, Clarks Summit, his sister Cathy McClain and husband Tim, Wilmington, NC, brother Brian Hales, Charlotte, NC, and his brother Tim Hales and wife Maureen, Columbus, OH., and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his brother Joey Hales.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 AM in Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, 1217 Prospect Ave., by Rev. Jonathan Kuhar, Pastor.
