OBITUARY

Samuel P. Cerminaro, 97, of the Tripp Park section of Scranton died Thursday January 15, 2026 at the Clarks Summit Senior Living Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Doris Veglia who died on October 31, 2016.

Born in Dunmore, he was the son of the late Anthony Cerminaro and Florence Cognetti Cerminaro. A graduate of Chester High School, he attended Penn State University. Sam proudly served in the United States Army, serving overseas in occupied Japan following World War II. Prior to retirement he was employed for over 40 years by Times Mirror Magazines.

Sam was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a long-time member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, where he took part in many church functions, including as a master pasta maker. He was a current member of Mary, Mother of God Parish.

Surviving are children, Anthony and wife, Christine, Pittsburgh; James and wife, Cindy, Pottstown; Samuel and wife Michelle, Downingtown, Robert and wife, Deme, Woodbridge, Va.; and Ann Cerminaro-Costanzi and husband, Jack Costanzi, Dunmore; grandchildren, Deirdre, James Jr., David, Kari, Samantha, Victoria Ashley, Arianna and Jack; great-grandchildren Rayna, Patrick, Brie, and Conor; sister Rita Sacco, and many nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by granddaughter Gabrielle; brother Russell Cerminaro and wife Elaine; and brother-in-law John Sacco.

The funeral will be conducted Wednesday from the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Mary Mother of God Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 316 William St. Everyone attending the funeral is asked to go directly to church. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Cathedral Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects, Tuesday from 5 – 7 p.m.
