A Scranton man choked his girlfriend and threatened to kill her early Saturday, police charge..
Larissa Perry told police Matthew Watson assaulted her. Police observed swelling and bruising to her face and neck when they arrived in the 800 block of Green Ridge Street at 4:18 a.m.
A call from Perry’s ex-husband started an argument between her and Watson, 44. Watson placed both hands around Perry’s neck and threatened to kill her, police said.
Perry told officers she ran from her residence on Monsey Avenue to a nearby house after the alleged assault.
Watson did not respond to police attempts to contact him via an intercom system at his Monsey Avenue residence. When police found him on the second floor, he resisted arrest when they tired to handcuff him. An officer stunned him.
Watson told police he argued with Perry about her ex-husband, but it never became physical and he left the residence. He said Perry later tried to get physical with him, so he grabbed her arms, restrained her on the couch and grabbed her neck and face, but never struck her.
Police charged Watson,1624 Monsey Ave., with strangulation, terroristic threats, simple assault, harassment and resisting arrest.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 28 at 11 a.m.
