WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE CO. (WOLF) — Police in Wilkes-Barre charged a Scranton man with terroristic threats after they said he brandished a firearm at Saturday’s “No Kings” protest in Wilkes-Barre.

According to Wilkes-Barre City Police, 52-year-old Michael Kolarik is facing charges of terroristic threats, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and assault after the incident occurred just before noon.

Police were on patrol at the protest in Public Square when they were contacted by several individuals reporting a man brandishing a firearm as he drove around in a red Jeep with no doors.

A victim told police that she was walking on East Market St. when the suspect pointed a firearm at her as he was sitting in his vehicle. Another told police that she was standing in the area of Public Square and South Main St. when she saw the man pointing a firearm at her with his finger on the trigger.

Police said they spoke to several witnesses and obtained cell phone footage. A photo submitted to FOX56 also shows Kolarik in his vehicle at the protest.

He was taken into custody at the scene.

Kolarik was arraigned on the charges and lodged in the Luzerne County Prison, unable to post $50,000 bail.
