PHILADELPHIA — A man died after he fell onto SEPTA subway tracks and was struck by a train early Wednesday morning, according to police.
Philadelphia Police said Terrell Burton, 41, of the 1600 block of West Allegheny Avenue, died after the incident at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Hunting Park Station on the Broad Street Line.
Burton got off the train as it arrived at the station, and it started heading southbound to continue along the tracks, Burton stepped backward, police said. He fell into the space between the train and the platform, and was struck and run over by the train, according to police.
The Philadelphia Fire Department were called to the scene and pronounced Burton dead at approximately 2:03 a.m.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
