MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (Northern News Now) – Vice President JD Vance is scheduled to visit Minnesota Thursday.
According to NBC News, Vance’s visit to Minneapolis comes amid increased federal attention on Minnesota as investigations into allegations of billions of dollars worth of fraud against state programs are underway.
The federal government has continued to increase the number of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Minnesota as they aim to crackdown on that fraud, which President Donald Trump has tied to the state’s Somali population.
Tensions escalated two weeks ago, when an ICE agent, Jonathan Ross, fatally shot 37-year-old Renee Good in Minneapolis.
Vance’s trip will include remarks in Minneapolis and a roundtable discussion with local leaders and members of the community, NBC News reported.
