ALLENTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) — Officials in the Lehigh Valley say they are evicting the Department of Homeland Security.
Lehigh County Controller Mark Pinsley said on Tuesday that the federal agency has been leasing office space at the Hamilton Financial Center in Allentown for three years, WFMZ-TV reports.
But, the county says it has not been paid a dime and, according to Pinsley, DHS owes $115,000 in back rent.
County Executive Josh Siegel says the presence of ICE is a threat to public safety and public trust.
However, District Attorney Gavin Holihan says ICE does not work out of that Allentown office and that those federal agents help investigate human trafficking.
Neither the DHS nor ICE responded to a request for comment from WFMZ.
