Free classes through Erie County Project LAUNCH help caregivers & babies connect from the very start
Some of the most meaningful moments with a baby are also the quietest ones. Infant Massage is one of those moments—a simple routine of gentle touch that helps babies feel safe and connected, while giving caregivers a chance to slow down and truly tune in.

At the Achievement Center of LECOM Health, Infant Massage is offered as part of early childhood supports because it naturally strengthens the relationship between caregiver and child. Thanks to Erie County Project LAUNCH—a SAMHSA-supported initiative helping children from birth to age 8 build strong social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and behavioral foundations—these trainings are offered at no cost to families.

Many caregivers notice their babies settling more easily, sleeping more soundly, and finding comfort through massage. But what matters most is the relationship that forms when caregivers learn to respond to their baby’s cues and communication in such a gentle, intentional way.

Infant Massage is a well-established, evidence-informed practice that has been used for decades to support early development and strengthen caregiver–child relationships. Sign up now to take a free class with your baby!
Infant Massage Classes Offered Free of Charge
Infant massage classes at the Achievement Center of LECOM Health are open to babies from three weeks old until they begin crawling (typically around 8–9 months). Classes are relaxed, baby-led, and supportive. Techniques are demonstrated on a doll, and caregivers massage their own babies at whatever pace feels right. Crying, feeding, diaper changes, and wiggles (no, not the dancing adults) are all a natural part of the experience.
A Few Gentle Ways to Begin Infant Massage at HomeStart with the legs: use slow, downward strokes from thigh to ankle.Watch your baby’s signals: soft eyes and a relaxed body often mean “yes.”Use touch to calm: rest a warm hand gently on the chest or back.Keep it short: even one or two minutes can be meaningful.
And while caregivers are creating calming moments for their babies, it’s also encouraged that they find a small moment of care for themselves, too.
